From our first connection via phone or email to our end-of-event good-byes, I strive to take the personal in "Personal Chef" to the next level. You may call to interview me, but more than likely, I’ll quickly turn the tables. I want to know everything I can about you and your guests: from your reason for gathering to your culinary faves, dislikes and any special dietary sensitivities. From there, I’ll design your unique menu for your unique celebration.

How do private chefs differ from caterers? The biggest distinction is that I will be cooking everything, start to finish, at your venue. Having spent years cooking in a railroad boxcar as the Executive Chef of the Napa Valley Wine Train, I honed the ability to cook anywhere.

Cooking for my clients with my clients present also offers the opportunity for a little event night banter in what I like to call Q & A & Eat. Passionate about sharing techniques the pros use and knowledge about the chemistry of food, I like to create fun, interactive experiences for you and your guests. Feel free to hang out in the kitchen with me. Bring your culinary curiosities, and I’ll take the intimidation out of cooking by showcasing the fact that delicious and complex flavor combinations don’t always need ingredients that are challenging to procure; and preparation can be simpler than you ever thought possible!

Life Beyond the Kitchen

People are always asking if I cook in my off time. The answer is a resounding yes! I never tire of it, especially because there’s always something in the garden sunshine primed and table ready. But beyond cooking, I love the outdoors. I grew up in the Sierra foothills of California, at the backdoor of Yosemite National Park. I spent most of my time outside catching trout for dinner. But when I wasn’t creek side, I was gardening and cooking with my mom and grandma. We farm to tabled way before it was a thing.

Not much has changed as an adult. On our ranch in the eastern hills of Napa County, my family and I continue to spend a ton of time outside, implementing regenerative farming practices while raising English Southdown Babydoll sheep, several varieties of chickens, Japanese Coturnix quail and Red Wrigglers for vermicomposting. Our property has an interesting history. As the current stewards creating our own history, our daily goal is to give back to the land we are so lucky to live on.
